In this course you will examine the inter-connectedness between learning theory, culture,  and various pedagogical models.  Selected theories of learning and models will be described, examined and evaluated in terms of their effectiveness for the diverse student population present in U.S. public schools.  Emphasis is placed on conceptualizing the teaching-learning process by understanding how children learn and how the various 'models of teaching' create or fail to create optimal classroom learning conditions .
